Okay so for practice yesterday my team went to a balancing life and sport workshop by Liam Ortega. Who is drop dead gorgeous. And I learned at lot. It was awesome. Then we all went and skated outside for a few hours. Well, I used my old skates outside since there is no way in hell, my $500 custom fit skates are touching the street. However they are completely different from my nice skates. So since my balance is different on my nice skates, I fell right on my ass twice. The second time I jolted my whole body and got a bad head ache from the jolt. And a nice bruise on my ass from landing on my phone that was in my pocket. Other than that though it was awesome and I can’t wait to skate outside again. It’s way more fun the skating inside.
My husband gave me an iphone armband thingy that he never uses because he’s got one of those fancy GPS heart monitor watches for running now. I seriously thought I was going to kill my phone, the number of times I have fallen down with it in my pocket. The armband is a little weird to get used to, because it is yet another damn thing you have to put on and skate around with, but I really like that it’s up out of the way and I can listen to music and cardio track while I’m outside skating.
Also after skating every day outside (and both outdoors and at the rink yesterday) on the slimmer outdoor wheels, I don’t even know if I can go back to my Radar Tuners. I still fall down a lot because I feel slightly more wobbly on the slimmer wheels, but I also feel like I can maneuver my feet better on the slimmer wheels.
